I was a Republican until a year ago. And changed to an independent when I divorced the Republican party. As a grandparent, what is the deal with this huge amount of debt my children and grandchildren will be paying? The Republicans used to be the party of fiscal responsibility. Now I'll be registering as a Dem in the next couple of days so I can vote for HILL-A-RY! HILL-A-RY! in the primary. Why? Remember this phrase? "It's the economy"? That was one of Bill Clinton's catch phrases in his first run for President, and nearly 16 years later, we're back to "It's the economy". Another Repub president has been that worst offender, a "tax &amp; spender". Here's what Alan Greenspan had to say about the Clinton presidency (and I think I'm paraphrasing a bit) "Clinton and Nixon were the best presidents when you look at economics". And "The economy during the Clinton years was no mistake. Clinton knew a lot about economics and his policies worked". I just want the Clinton years to come back, where I felt that I could afford to live, pay for my kids' orthodontia, buy prom dresses, make a house payment, and save towards retirement. Hillary knows how that works and can get us back to that place. Feeling a little pinched in the pocketbook Bucky? See that George Bush #2's already wealthy friends have had their frat boy pockets lined by GW at your expense on those no-bid contracts? See that there has been no LEADERSHIP in this country in the last 8 years? Former President Bill Clinton visited Bend last night, and we listened to him talk about his Hillary's plans for our next presidency. That's the subject for another post, but let's provide a bit of CPR to the economy by voting for Hillary Clinton.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/8083221458708226213-2084561878737895840?l=bensonartstudios.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

A Lovely Summer Evening

First Friday Art Walk, rode my $20 garage sale cruiser downtown Bend, my first ride on my new old bike which I think is a very nice "ride", warm and lovely sunny evening, wandering in and out of different galleries with friends, drinking a glass or two of wine, looking at and talking about our art work, others' art work, skiing, paddling, biking. Ah Bend. It is also the weekend of a classic car - what do you call it when people drive their classic cars somewhere and park them? So there were some very cool cars driving through downtown. There was wonderful live music: an amazing flamenco band called Sola Via with 3 drummers, two guitarists, a bass player, and a keyboard player, making wonderful big saucy music as the sun backlit the river, the willows, the ponderosa pines, the musicians, and flocks of canada geese flying to the lovely music. As I stood there, I silently said Thank You to whomever it was I was saying Thank You to. Biked home across the foot bridge over the river, lovely colors reflected in the water, people leaning over the railing watching the water while listening to the music, and up the hill, a neighbor passing in her car says "Hi Karen" as she drives by. I'll go to sleep with that one riff running through my head.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/8083221458708226213-5109311359777436196?l=bensonartstudios.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>
